Nourishing Creativity, Faith, and the Everyday
My name is Claire Zaiger, and I work at Emerge as a graphic designer. I live in Audubon with my husband, Joseph, and spend my days working on branding projects, print materials, advertising, websites: really anything visual that crosses our screen. I love bringing ideas to life through thoughtful design, choosing the perfect font pairings, and crafting mood boards that set the tone for a whole project. I’ve always believed we’re all creative in our own way. Sometimes creativity comes naturally, and sometimes it just needs a little nourishment.
What “Nourish” Means to Me
To me, nourish is the way you intentionally care for yourself or those around you. It’s the kind of care that helps you feel whole. It’s choosing to slow down long enough to recognize what truly fills you and then leaning into those things.
My Nourishment Goals for the Season
As we see the end of the year in our sights, I hope to nourish by spending lots of intentional time with family and friends through yummy food and good conversation over the holidays. It also means taking a step back from the “hustle” of the holidays and remembering the true meaning of it all. Having and practicing gratitude, looking to Jesus, sitting in the comfort of his presence, and remembering the holiness of this season. It is easy to get caught up in buying all the gifts or making the plans perfect, but I hope to be nourished by recognizing moments that truly matter with the people around me.

A Daily Rhythm That Grounds Me
One of the most nourishing parts of my day is waking up early enough to drink my coffee slowly and read my Bible. When I make room for that quiet time in the morning, before the responsibilities begin, my whole day feels steadier and more peaceful. It’s such a simple rhythm, but it fills me in a way that makes everything else flow better.

Nourishing Creativity
As a graphic designer, creativity is at the heart of what I do. When I’m not intentionally nourishing it, I can start to feel burnt out or drained. I know creativity comes in waves, but being intentional about it makes all the difference.
Some of the things that help me nourish my creativity:
- Taking a walk with no distractions
- Trying a new craft or painting just for fun
- Drawing or doodling without expectations
- Cooking a new recipe
- Looking for inspiration outside of a screen
I find that fresh ideas come more easily when I’m nourishing this part of my life. There are endless ways to be creative and to seek creativity in the day to day!

Final Thoughts on Nourishment
Nourishment doesn’t always have to look like typical self-care (massages, face masks, or alone time – though those can certainly help, too!). It can be as simple as prayer, pausing for a deep breath, or grounding yourself throughout the day. It’s not something to add to your never-ending to-do list. Instead, it’s a gift and an invitation to slow down and reconnect with what matters.
When we shift our perspective, nourishment, and gratitude along with it, becomes a natural part of how we move through life.
