I don’t typically share much about my family in our newsletters, but today I need to brag just a little. When I started Emerge, one of my biggest priorities as a business owner was to create a career that allowed me to put my family first. I wanted the freedom to be present for them, and I told myself I didn’t want the business to grow “too fast” before my kids were grown and out of the house. Well… God clearly had different plans, and right now I’m learning to embrace the chaos that comes with it all.IKM-Manning Homecoming Queen Olivia Greving and mom, Shelly Greving

I could spend hours telling you about the accomplishments of my kids (big and small) and how proud I am of each of them. But this past week was one of those rare and special times when so many celebrations seemed to come together at once. It was IKM-Manning’s Homecoming week, and my oldest daughter, Olivia, who is now a senior, was elected to Homecoming Court. Honestly, it never even crossed my mind that she would be on. Not because she didn’t deserve it, but because, let’s face it, Homecoming Court often turns into a popularity contest. And Olivia is the opposite of someone who chases the spotlight. She’s not surrounded by a huge circle of friends, and she prefers to quietly do what’s right without drawing attention to herself.

But this past week, I was reminded of the goodness of people. So many reached out to me to say how much they love Olivia, that she’s sweet, kind, dependable, and always ready to help without being asked. People told me they were voting for her because of who she is, not because of who she knows. And still, I’ll admit, I didn’t think much beyond that.

Then came coronation. When the announcer read Olivia’s name as the 2025 Homecoming Queen and the crowd erupted in cheers, I couldn’t help but burst with pride. My daughter was celebrated not for being the loudest or the most outgoing, but simply for living each day with kindness and humility. What an incredible honor, and one that humbled me deeply as a parent.

This experience reminded me of something I think applies to both business and life: you never really know when you’re making an impact. Every small act of kindness, every moment of doing the right thing without recognition, builds into something bigger. And when the time is right, those quiet, consistent choices shine.

So whether in your workplace, your family, or your community, keep showing up, keep doing the good work, and trust that it matters. Because it does.

Congratulations Olivia! We are so proud of you and look forward to seeing where life’s adventure takes you.
